A Smash Blog Interview with Lisa Wright: Moving Minds Learning Solutions

Hi Lisa thank you for joining Frisco Women today for this interview! Let’s get started by telling our readers about yourself and your background!

I grew up in Plano and went to school at The University of Mississippi where I earned my bachelors in education. I have been an elementary educator for over 20 years and within that time, I became a dyslexia therapist for the last 10 years. I am a Certified Academic Language Therapist, CALT and a Licensed Dyslexia Practitioner, LDP.

Thank you for sharing! We love our members and are always curious about how they came to us; when and how did you find out about Frisco Women?

I think I've been following the Frisco Women on Facebook for awhile!

That’s awesome. Can you tell us a little about your business? We’d love to know how you got started, and where you’ve grown to today!

As a dyslexic learner and a mom to a son with dyslexia, I deeply understand the challenges that students and families face. I founded Moving Minds Learning Solutions two and a half years ago with the goal of making a positive impact on individuals with learning differences. School was never easy for me, and I often resisted the extra support my parents offered. Now, looking back, I’m grateful for their understanding and the resources they provided. At Moving Minds Learning Solutions, I draw on my own experiences to empathize with my students and strive to create a positive, supportive learning environment for them.

Do you have any advice for our readers?

I didn’t study business or marketing in college—I studied education—so I’ve learned the importance of surrounding myself with people who have a business background to ask questions and learn from. Working with different business coaches during various stages of my journey has pushed me out of my comfort zone, helping me understand the behind-the-scenes aspects of running a business and develop systems of policies and procedures that evolve as my business grows. I’ve also realized that I can’t just wait for clients to come to me; I need to actively build relationships in the community so people know, like, and trust me with their child’s educational future at Moving Minds Learning Solutions!

Now just for fun, what are your local favorites? We always like knowing about people’s favorite restaurants, dishes, drinks, etc!

I love a good pizza and glass of wine which is why we love to go to Halo Pizza. I like that they give back to the local Frisco ISD schools.

Thank you Lisa for joining us today! Where can our readers find you?
